Ecclesiastes: The Inspired Book of Error

"Meaningless! Meaningless!" says the Teacher. "Utterly meaningless! Everything is meaningless." What does man gain from all his labor at which he toils under the sun? Now all has been heard; here is the conclusion of the matter: Fear God and keep his commandments, for this is the whole duty of man. (Ecclesiastes 1:2-3, 12:13)

Solomon was in an unusual position to undertake the investigations reflected in this book. Judah and Israel were at peace during his forty year reign, he had all the wealth he needed and he was known at the smartest man in the world. He set himself to discover what life is all about.
